10 Best Animated Movies like Prince of Egypt

It is fun to watch movies from Ancient times, but sometimes they mislead the audience as the style and history are completely different in terms of what researchers actually describe how it looks like.

We have studied Ancient Egypt’s history in school and we can relate what is accurate and what is not but movies are based on research only and some of them put a lot of effort to make sure that story is as accurate as possible.

Let’s take a look at 10 best animated movies like Prince of Egypt

Gods of Egypt (2016)

Set, The merciless god of darkness has taken over the throne of Egypt, which was once a peaceful empire.

But now converted into chaos and conflict. Few dare to battle against him.

One of them is a young thief whose love was taken away by god, now seeking to defeat set with the aid of the powerful god Horus.

This movie is fairly a recent movie that has some big stars including Chadwick Boseman and Gerard Butler.

You may wonder after watching this movie how much information is accurate in the movie.

While this movie throws in some accuracy as well as inaccuracy and that’s so confusing, as this movie focuses on Egypt mythology, there is not sufficient information about it.

Interestingly, some details are accurate, such as how the path to a happy afterlife changed.

But, overall it seems the movie is poking Egypt mythology, which is wrong.

Stargate (1994)

Stargate is the second movie in the list of Movies like Prince of Egypt.

On their mission, they find a link that looks like Egypt and humans out there are involved in a primitive culture of worshipping RA, the son of God.

But soon they discover the mystery of Stargate.

The coolest thing about this movie is that the filmmakers of this movie hired a man known as Stuart Tyson Smith, who was an Egyptologist in Los Angeles.

He taught the actors in this movie how to speak Egypt’s native language similarly, And this is done to have original touch in the movie.

The Ten Commandments (1956)

The Prince of Egypt is an animated movie available in the list of movies like prince of egypt considered to be a historically accurate movie depicted from the Bible and Exodus

This movie is highly accurate in the representation of Ancient Egypt, but it doesn’t talk about the war and violence that took place at that time.

The weapons used in the movie are commonly used at the time of the Late Bronze Age.

Even the details about how monuments were built. There was a lot of mystery behind how Egyptians built pyramids.

You remember a thrilling horse and Chariot race in the beginning, wheels were not invented at that time, so sand ramps were the common way to move heavy material.

This movie has some historical facts underneath the rest of the movie.

One of the noticeable part of the movie is an Ancient Egyptian city where the Arc is found.

This city was the capital of the 21st and 22nd Egyptian dynasties due to its famous location for a long time where Alexandria took over.

However, there are other historical accuracies as well such as the people’s behaviors.

Grave robbers and locals often cause damage to the property to find treasure

He worked as a technical advisor and make sure that all the things are accurate.

Another movie like the prince of Egypt, this movie did some things horribly wrong but there are some things as well that are perfectly performed.

Strangely, there are many small things that are need to focus on to make it accurate.

How characters are perfectly mummified, that is so accurate, and what things they have kept with them in the tomb.

The mask worn during the process of mummification is accurate.

In addition, names and logos are used perfectly for the team that studies Ancient Egypt

It was said that this movie was made to prove that Hollywood can make epic movies and this was the last movie of the director in Germany before moving to Hollywood.

This movie was based on a true incident and all the costumes used and the plot of the story were highly accurate to what was known for Egypt at that time.

Cleopatra (1963)

This movie was about to be released in two parts in the beginning.

The first part was about the love between Cleopatra and Ceasor and the second, was about her and Antony.

But it was eventually combined to release one movie longer than four hours.

A lot of time and thought were invested in this movie and it came out to be the most expensive movie made at that time.

While the clothes that were used in the movie were different from what what Egyptians used to wear at that time.

The makeups and wigs were accurate and heavily influenced by the 1960s was clearly seen when the movie got released.

You will find Cleopatra’s accuracy when it shines in history.
